For four years in a row now, Apple fan Melva Yip is the first in the queue to get his hands on the latest iPhone from Singapore telco M1 at its flagship outlet in the heart of the Orchard Road shopping district. This time around, the eager beaver claimed his place a day before (the launch) at 7:45am.
Yip says this is longest he has ever been in a queue, though he may not be able to do the same next year due to his national service commitments.
At SingTel's launch event held at Marina Bay Sands, John Yap, was first in line. Like Yip, Yap had queued overnight for his gold-colored 64GB iPhone 5S, though he started at 9pm.
Meanwhile, at the Apple premium reseller outlets where only the iPhone 5C was being sold, we saw a few diehard fans staying up overnight outside one of the stores in town for the new plastic iPhone.
Other premium resellers that we checked earlier this morning had no queues, which is not surprising since Apple was taking pre-orders on its online Web store and would have delivered the handset free to customers who wanted a good night’s sleep.
