Cape Town – Apple released its latest instalment of iOS, the operating system running its popular mobile phones and tablets on Wednesday around 7pm South African Time. Twitter was a flurry with comments of people excited to download the software.

While the software slightly pre-empts the official launch of the newest phones, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, it is available for all iPhone users from the iPhone4 and up.

“The new ‘blocked list’ to block specified numbers from phoning and texting you is a great feature that I’m sure a few people will use,” says Glynn Pearson, an Apple Fan from Centurion.

“And the slight differences in the sound and notifications like the slight echo are pretty cool!” he adds.

iOS7 is available as a free download from Settings -> General -> Software Update. But be warned – it’s a 720MB download (910MB on iPad) – so make sure you have enough data on your phone or use a wifi connection.

In answer to a reader quickpoll, James MacDonald from Rondebosch adds, “Simply Brilliant! It is a clever update and one that really moves their software forward.”

Jarrod Eder from West Beach said, “More new-age design is impressive and it feels like the phone is easier to use. All in all a great upgrade.”

Byron Rode, a developer from Durban said, “Where do you want me to start? iCloud Keychain is by far the best thing since sliced bread. Complete secure sync of all your access across devices.”

But not everyone is happy with the latest iOS release. Jason du Toit from Milnerton took a dig at Apple’s introduction of features available for quite some time on Google’s rival operating system, Android. “Happy to let you use some of our android features!” he said.

At a recent developer conference held by Nokia, CEO Stephen Elop let loose out of his pocket the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Despite Elop’s attempt to get the crowed to put away all cameras, someone managed to capture some images along with a video for all of us to see.

Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 based handset is dubbed the “Sea Ray” and the design of the hardware resembles that of the Nokia N9 Meego based smartphone. At first glance, it appears the device is rocking a 4-inch screen, unfortunately we have no confirmation on that so our speculations are running rampant. The most important part of the hardware is the Gorilla Glass, we’ve been stressing for months that every smartphone with huge screens should be rocking Gorilla Glass or its competitor.

At the end of everything, the crowd was satisfied and the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset was leaked via some Nokia employee, what’s better than that?

HTC EVO 3D runs with Android 2.3 OS. it powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and it might be the one of the world's fastest phone. also in order to process high quality 3D graphics, HTC EVO 3D has a Adreno 220 GPU. this phone has a built in HDMI port to output it's 3D videos. it also has a GPS receiver and a digital compass. Mobile phone technology changing every day. first it came just as a calling device but now it has become a pocket computer. i think you know about 3D movies. now samsung has recently announced their newest mobile phone which has a 3D AMOLED display. and Samsung W960 is the world first mobile phone which has this kind of capability.
also to watch a 3D movie, we need to wear a special 3D glass at the cinema hall. but the special thing of this mobile phone is, you don't need any glasses to wear. there is a dedicated 3D shortcut key on the phone and when you activate it, it just shows the 3D images.
Samsung announced about Samsung W960 in this April and it will be available at the end of the year. also they going to manufacture it for the korean market only.
other than the 3D display, this phone has couple of special features. Samsung W960 is a full touchscreen phone which has a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen. it also has an Accelerometer sensor and Gesture control as well. according to the media sources, Samsung W960 comes with samsung's Bada OS.
the main camera of this phone is 3.2 MP and it supports video recording. also has Samsung W960 DMB TV feature. in connectivity side Samsung W960 supports 7.2 mbps HSDPA speed. it has bluetooth but wi-fi is not available.
